Self doubt and five other things you should remove from your life

Self doubt and five other things you should remove from your lifeBeing productive requires a lot more than pen and paper, to-do list or productivity system. Being productive is state of mind that requires that you are in balance with yourself and are able to remove things from life that hinder your productivity and creativity. When you feel good, you will become productive and when you become productive you will feel even better.

Here is a list of six things that you should think and  remove from you life.

1. Self doubt

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.

― William Shakespeare, Measure for Measure

There is nothing good in self doubt. It prevents you to do what you want. It blocks good ideas and keeps creative people quiet.

Self doubt is limits you have set for yourself. It is how you judge yourself against the others. Stop thinking what others think about you or your work. If you always try your best, there is nothing to doubt, nothing to be shamed of. Doubt your self-doubt and ask from you what will happen if you fail. In most cases, the answer is not that terrifying.

Stop being shamed of undone things. Be shamed when you have done something bad not when you have not done anything yet.

2. Lies

If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.

― Mark Twain

All lies are unnecessary. Even the white ones. When you have nothing to hide, your conscious is clear. It is easy to be who you are. Nothing will come behind the corner.

3. Bad words

Don’t say bad words about others. Don’t talk behind their backs. It is waste of time and energy. And it does not make you feel better. Talking badly, thinking badly is poisonous. It will drag you with your words.

James Altucher said treat other people like they would die today. It is beautiful idea. Why waste time to say bad words when it’s their last day.

4. Unselfishness

To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate. – Michael Jordan

I believe in selfishness. Unselfish people burn out. They get tired. Learn to say no or “I can do it, but not yet”.

Take care of yourself first. Then help others. And you will get superpowers.

5. Bitterness

Bitterness grows from the past. But there is no life in the past. Your life is today. Stay in the moment.

You can’t change the past and you don’t know the future. What has happened before is not reason to feel bitter.

6. Envy

Our envy always lasts longer than the happiness of those we envy.
― François de La Rochefoucauld

Don’t compare anything in your life to others. If someone is successful, it is not taken from you.

He is probably envying someone else. He might even envy you.

Yes! All these things are negative, and I agree that they should be excised from your life. I always tell my kids that whining (or any other negative type of talk) sucks their strength away, and I think the same about the rest of these negative emotions. Good post!

Great list to get rid of. I’ve often heard that our worst enemy lies between our own two ears. Good read, thanks.
